[[PROJECT RUNAWAY]]

(PHOTO: Project Runway for season 8 returns with Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Michael Kors and guest judge Selma Blair.)

Oh ma God, “Project Runway” is back, and not a moment too soon! I don’t know about you, but my life is just a little emptier without Tim Gunn cradling his chin and ordering shaky designers to make it work. I briefly contemplated buying some Liz Claiborne separates just to get my Tim fix, and then I got past it, in part because the brand is moving to JCPenney in August and it’s not really in stores right now, unless you count Liz Claiborne New York, which is only available on QVC, and I don’t shop QVC because it tends to make me fall asleep. Probably because it only ever occurs to me to watch it when I have insomnia at three in the morning. Anyway, I got over it, and now he’s back with Michael, Nina and Heidi and really, life is good again.

But let’s get right to it, because there is a ton of new designers we have to meet, and it’s going to be hell keeping them straight.

First, we meet Casanova. This is apparently his actual name. Casanova is from Puerto Rico. He is afraid that New York might eat him. Casanova and English aren’t the best of friends.

Sarah Trost is from Toluca Lake, Calif., which really means she’s from North Hollywood. Don’t try to be cute, Sarah, we Californians are onto you.

A.J. Thouvenot is from St. Charles, Mo. He’s so relieved to meet Sarah Trost, because he was afraid he’d have to get a ride from the airport with some old lady who doesn’t know what’s going on.

Like Peach Carr, who is 50 and designs for the ladies who lunch. Peach, why are you on this show? Do you have a death wish? Was St. John not hiring? Okay, my first bet on which of the designers gets carted away by an ambulance goes to Peach. Although I have to say, she’s got the spunky attitude. And says hell to the yes when wondering if she’ll be the oldest competitor, which is weirdly cute. I think I may actually root for Peach, as her designs aren’t bad. Go Oldie McOlderson!

Her buddy is Nicholas D’Aurizio, who immediately tells Peach he can’t wait to beat her. Which makes me think Nicholas is an ass.

At Grand Central Station, Casanova meets Kristin Simms from Philadelphia and McKell Maddox of the mangy dreadlocks. She’s from Utah. She has a baby. And I want to shave her head almost as much as I wanted to shave Crystal Bowersox’s.

Kristin is a graphic designer who fell into clothing design. She likes to work with her mistakes. I foresee an early exit for Kristin. Personally, I get kind of annoyed with people who don’t think they need training to design. I want Alber Elbaz to fly in from Paris for the day to beat these dipheads unconscious with his pudgy but skilled little hands. Couture takes training. Years and years of experience. It takes knowledge. It’s not throwing fabric on a mannequin. Aargh! Okay, I’ll stop now.

Jason Troisi has a short temper and wears little hats. He likes tough looks on women. I think he wants everyone to know he’s straight. He also has no game, at least if he was trying to flirt with Gretchen Jones. We learn nothing about Gretchen. Except she’s Irish-American.

Mondo Guerra is from Colorado, and he says people think he’s strange. I think they’re right. But sometimes that works for a designer. Look at Alexander McQueen. I mean, yes, he committed suicide, so it didn’t completely work for the long haul, but his designs were incredible.

Oh, back to Nicholas. He’s an architect. At least he understands structure. I still don’t like him.

We also briefly meet Ivy. Ivy’s line is Ivy H. But that’s all we learn, really, except she’s small and might be Asian.

Christopher Collins is from San Francisco and does women’s ready-to-wear. He meets April Johnston, who just graduated from school. She likes morgues. Her designs are way too costume.

Michael Costello is from Palm Springs. Is any guy other than Jason straight?

The designers come together, shake hands, and meet Heidi and Tim. Tim announces that the designers aren't really on the show, as it’s still audition time and at least one person is going home before they unpack. The designers can pull one item of clothing out of their luggage, which they can use for the challenge. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t necessarily be excited about that, because I tend not to overpack. Like, I wouldn’t want to waste my limited wardrobe on a model.

Michael Drummond tells us he got into fashion via knitwear. So he’s not loving this challenge, as knits don’t play well with other fabrics.

Oh, Heidi just made the challenge WORSE, if that’s even possible. You have to pass your garment to the person on your right. So, kiss those pants goodbye, friend-o. Casanova is freaked out, because his pants were worth $1070.

Time to meet Gretchen. She’s from Portland, Ore. And she’s green, and she’s boho and I suspect she’s boring and/or tacky if that horrid rust velvet minidress in her book is any indication.

Time to meet Valerie Mayen. She grew up poor. She seems to be doing Jetsons design via Etsy. Not sure that’s a good thing.

Yes, with the new, longer “PR,” there is more time for plugging sponsors. Check out that HP sketchbook, people! Like an iPad, except it’s not!

Andy South is from Hawaii. He’s designing for himself. Jury’s out on Andy.

Ah, Ivy Higa is the tiny mystery designer from earlier. She’s sure she can finish on time. Which means she won’t.

Everyone goes to Mood and bitches about the challenge. Gretchen even makes a face while saying she’s going to “make it work,” and I now officially hate Gretchen. Girlfriend did NOT just make fun of Tim Gunn! Go back to Oregon, hippie.

Casanova is horrified that Valerie is ripping up his pants. I actually had to turn on the closed captioning on my television to understand what Casanova is saying.

Peaches discovers that the shawl she’s stuck with is made of fabric that unravels when she touches it. Michael sniffs that a real designer can work with a feed bag. Michael, it’s a little soon to get bitchy, isn’t it?

It’s Tim time! He thinks McKell’s outfit is adorable. He’s intrigued by Nicholas’ outfit, because he’s using polyester to make something upscale. But it’s not there yet. Tim suggests to Casanova that his outfit is vulgar. This is not Casanova’s day. He tells April to make some damn decisions about her inside-out tux jacket. Tim doesn’t seem to love Jason’s reversed kimono. Gretchen talks so much, Tim has nothing to say to her. Again, even though I’m all for sustainability, I hate Gretchen.

Tim is horrified by Peach’s fabric and suggests she hide it under some tulle. Peach is thrilled. But seriously, why couldn’t she think of that herself? C’mon, Peach, you can’t plug that wisdom angle and then act like a helpless girl.

Tim thinks Mondo’s dress is matronly. The cap sleeve worries him. I just hate that zig-zag wool he’s using. It looks like he stole it from a 1970s sofa.

Hmm, Tim announces that they’ll be using the Piperlime accessory wall instead of the Bluefly accessory wall. Piperlime, being part of the Gap/Old Navy/Banana Republic empire, probably beat out Bluefly with all sorts of big corporate money, but still, sad to see it go.

Jason’s model has big boobs, and he’s very excited about that. He may be the only straight guy on the show, but he’s really, really straight.

Kristin forgets about her model in hair and make-up. Worse, Peach comes undone in hair and make-up. She doesn’t know what she wants. She can’t make decisions. Peach’s time on the show is limited if she doesn’t get it together.

Casanova practically sends his model down the runway naked. And even once she’s dressed, she’s almost naked. Oh, Casanova, I may not need the closed captioning for long.

Runway time! Michael Kors and Nina Garcia are back, and the guest judge is Selma Blair. Although I’m not thrilled about actresses judging the show, I will say Selma Blair has excellent taste and knows her designers, so she’s a big step up from, say, Lindsay Lohan, who may know her designers but usually looks like skanked-out crap.

Valerie

I like the idea of this dress, but you can tell it was pounded out, as the back gaps awkwardly and the fun detailing was built into the pants. It’s okay to use it, but she doesn’t add much.

Peach

This is a cute little summer dress, but nothing interesting. The real issue is that she didn’t seem to use the scarf for much at all – it’s barely visible. But given how many messes I think are coming down the runway, she may not have to worry.

McKell
It looks a bit maternity in the skirt, but I like the contrast between the menswear top and the fancy bottom. Still, it’s cut horribly and isn’t flattering. And what’s with the shoes?

Andy
This is actually a pretty polished end result. So, maybe the jury’s in on Andy as someone to watch.

Sarah
The little jumper’s okay, but it doesn’t wow me. Very juniors department.

Nicholas
I have to say, pulling an evening gown out of a polyester jacket is pretty impressive. But the fabric is sagging and wrinkling, which it wouldn’t with proper structuring (though there was no time for that). Plus, it’s boring.

Mondo
I kind of hate both fabrics he’s using here, but it’s a nice little shift, I guess.

Ivy
I’m not sure she really did much with the pants, other than some ruching and a Capri cut, but the top is interesting, even though it doesn’t work with the pants. Not exactly an outfit, though I have no idea what she could have done with those awful pants.

Michael C.
This is actually pretty impressive. It definitely looks like it took more than five hours to make this dress.

Kristin
I like the idea with Kristin’s folded fabric dress, but watching the model try to move in it proves that Kristin doesn’t know what she’s doing. It’s awkward, it looks clumpy and it’s not flattering from the back. But the idea is still kinda cool.

Christopher
You can tell that Christopher does ready-to-wear for a living. Cute little dress, nice neck detailing, very youthful.

April
Not really sure what she was trying to accomplish here. It’s deconstructed, but it doesn’t look purposefully so. It just looks… homeless.

Gretchen
A basic little black dress with cap sleeves. Selma Blair would probably wear this.

Michael D.

Love the kimono top and the draping in the back. Nice little outfit.

Jason
This looks like a black plastic trash bag. And not in a good way.

A.J.
This is fun, but it’s also costume. Not sure if the judges will go for it.

Casanova
I think I saw Tara Reid wearing this in Ibiza. While slugging back Jell-O shots. In a pool of vodka.

Heidi calls A.J., Andy, Valerie, Sarah, Peach, Kristin, Michael C., Mondo, Michael C. and Christopher. They’re all safe and they can actually move in and pack.

Heidi announces there is one clear winner – Gretchen. Michael thought it was great, Nina thought it was sophisticated and Selma thought it was elegant and simple.

Everyone else was in the bottom. Whoa!

Heidi calls on Ivy first. Michael is annoyed that she didn’t transform the pants, and he feels the outfit tells a story. Selma says it’s an unfortunate pant and it looks like a small town hick outfit. But seriously, what could she do with those awful pants?

Next, Jason. He agrees it blows. Heidi thinks it looks like a hairdressing cape. Burn! Selma sees something interesting in it, because it makes her confused. Michael points out the fact he can see the pins in the garment. Ouch.

April tries to justify her tux jacket. Heidi calls it a hot mess. Michael likes deconstruction, but he needs to see she can construct. Nina says it’s an ‘80s streetwalker look.

McKell talks about her maternity dress. Nina likes the mix of fabric, but the styling is terrible. Michael calls it a disco apron and doesn’t see cohesion. Heidi says it is butt ugly.

Nicholas tries to explain his attempt to turn sportswear into evening. Heidi thinks it’s odd and boring. Michael says it doesn’t mesh. Nina loves the concept, but thinks it’s a snooze.

Casanova talks about his ugly dress. Michael calls it odd and describes it as pole dancer in Dubai. Nina says it’s fascinatingly bad. Selma loved it and loathed it. Heidi asks Casanova to explain why he should be on the show. Casanova doesn’t understand, so Nina repeats the question in Spanish. But Casanova doesn’t really defend himself well, saying he should think more conservatively. Maybe he should have answered in Spanish.

The judges send the designers backstage. Ivy is first to be savaged. Michael says it was a ridiculous outfit, but says she can make clothes. Next, Casanova. Heidi wonders if he doesn’t understand English very well. Michael says the taste level is questionable at best. Selma says it’s a dress you would find at the mall in a store called Dazzles. Selma is pretty good at this judging thing!

On to Jason. Michael liked the way it was put together. Selma gives him points for at least putting together a look. Michael says April fell apart under the time constraints, but says it was modern. Selma forgives her, since it was a five hour challenge.

Heidi and Michael say McKell lives in an alternate universe. And that she’s uncool. But we knew that from the icky dreadlocks. Michael points out that Nicholas had a gorgeous model, but even she couldn’t pull off that dress. Still, Michael and Nina give him points for being able to make a dress.

The sad designers are called back to the runway, so Heidi can tell them, again, they shouldn’t feel safe. Gee, I don’t think they do, Heidi. Commercial break!

Heidi tells April she’s in. Nicholas is also in. Jason is, amazingly, in. He had so much fabric and blew it, but maybe they judges like his little hats.

McKell is out! Ivy and Casanova are… in. Huh. I would have sent Casanova packing, honestly.

Tim tells McKell he stands by his original judgment that her dress was adorable, even though it didn’t fit the model very well and the styling blew.

The surviving designers move into their new digs and mull over what the next day will bring. I get the sense “PR” is trying to shake things up what with the crazy opening challenge and the extra half hour, which so far seems like a good idea but could easily turn into thirty minutes of product placement. In any case, I’m glad to have Heidi and the gang back, and this crop of designers seems to have enough oddballs and true talents to make for an interesting season. Or at least, I hope so. Just let there be no more hoochie dresses from Casanova.

They've been married for almost 13 years but it's very rare to see Robert DeNiro and his wife pictured out together.

But there was no way that Grace Hightower was going to miss one of her husband's biggest social calendar events of the year.

The couple were snapped arriving at the New York State Supreme Court last night for a party held by high society magazine Vanity Fair for the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival.

Zac Posen and his posse of party people kicked off a 24-hour shopping party last night while eager shoppers formed a long line down Eighth Avenue and around the corner of 34th Street.

Posen fans Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Selma Blair, Mena Suvari, Parker Posey, Michelle Trachtenberg, Theodora and Alexandra Richards, Kelly Bensimon and models Coco Rocha, Alek Wek and Sessliee Lopez turned up, mostly clad in the limited edition Zac Posen for Target collection, to support their friend and shop for more.

Guests were greeted by girls holding trays of masks, noise makers and other festive doo-dads and then were offered the chance to pose for instant pictures in front of a "party" backdrop. Cocktails were passed throughout the space, which is part of the New Yorker Hotel, while party guests shopped and enjoyed a performance from The Like, the band that starred in the short promotional film for the collection, directed by Gia Coppola.

While most appeared to be shopping for themselves with a few garments draped over their arms, there were a couple shoppers early on that literally picked up sections of clothing from the racks and headed to the check out. That explains why there's a decent amount of Zac Posen for Target already available on eBay.

If you are in New York, run – do not walk – to the Zac Posen for Target pop-up store at the corner of 34th Street and Eighth Avenue. This shop is open for only for 24 hours – until 11pm Friday, April 16 – and if you can't get your hands on the whole collection of Zac Posen for Target there, you'll have to wait until it hits the stores and Target.com on April 25.

[[ARTICLES]] Anne Hathaway On Her “Weird Features” and Surprising Style Icons

Anne Hathaway looks as unequivocally gorgeous and radiant as ever on the March cover of InStyle—though she’s probably the only person out there who doesn’t see it: “I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head,” she tells the magazine. “But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up. It’s my face. I’m not very pretty. But that’s OK because I do know that I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important.” The self-effacing actress continues: “If I don’t work out at all, I have too much curve and no tone—which is not OK. It’s about finding balance.” Hathaway strives for equilibrium in the way she dresses too, with her tomboy-by-day, glamazon-by-night approach: “In the evening it would never occur to me to go out in motorcycle boots like this,” she says, referring to the black Burberry pair she wore to her interview. “I love going out in high heels and dressing up and glamming it up, and having there be a distinction between what happened throughout the day and the evening.” As to where she finds style inspiration, the 27 year-old, who calls out Marc Jacobs as one of her “all-time favorite designers,” has a long list of Hollywood peers who demonstrate “innovation and originality,” including Tilda Swinton, Gwen Stafani, Lady Gaga, Selma Blair, and Natalie Portman, and says: “I like people who are true to themselves.” The March issue of InStyle hits stands this Friday, and for more on Anne in the meantime, visit instyle.com. – Emily Hsieh

[[MEDIA-VIDEO]] Selma talking about The Poker House

Actress-turned-director Lori Petty makes her feature directorial debut with Poker House, a period drama set in 1976 that explores a typical day in the life of a decidedly atypical teen named Agnes (Jennifer Lawrence). Some folks have the luxury of living each day to the fullest, but for Agnes every day is a grueling struggle for survival; her mother (Selma Blair) is strung-out on drugs, her home has been overrun by degenerates, and her only father figure is a pimp. For Agnes and her two younger sisters this particular day will be marked by both tragedy and triumph, but which will resonate most in the days and weeks to follow? We recently met up with Petty, as well as her two leading ladies Selma Blair and Jennifer Lawrence, to chat about the making of this coming of age drama. [[INTERVIEWS]] Blair Talks 'Poker House,' 'Cruel' Kiss

Actress Says Infamous 'Cruel Intentions' Kiss Was 'A Cultural Moment'

Ever since she burst onto the scene in 1999's 'Cruel Intentions,' Selma Blair has taken roles of all shapes and sizes, though generally, she plays characters much younger than her actual age thanks to her "little pudgy face," as she calls it. Now, she's taking on a much more mature role -- that of a strung-out junkie mother in Lori Petty's semi-autobiographical film 'The Poker House.' PopEater chatted with Selma about her new role, her racy 'Cruel Intentions role (and yes, the lesbian kiss between her and Sarah Michelle Gellar) and how she enjoys a good chat with the paparazzi.

Read It All Below:
How do you go about preparing for a role like yours, being a junkie?
I find the ones that are darker to be more truthful. My experience as a person goes that way more than the energetic stuff I play. Even though my part isn't too huge, I think Lori did a brilliant job with the writing. I spoke to her about her mother, and just really got honest with myself about moments where I've encountered people like this.
How true to form is the story?
I'm not sure. Lori kept telling me 'bigger, uglier.' The moments you're with people that are really screwing up in life and are still trying to get attention, those are big, ugly moments. After somebody saw the screening, they said 'Oh, a big over-the-top performance from Selma Blair,' and I was like 'No, that's contained for what we're dealing with.' People forget how big and ugly things can be.
Is there a performance from the past you studied that played the junkie role?
I don't think I did because I'm such a mimic I'd just wind up copying them. It's just something where I wanted to be there in the moment ... and not really see her. Look at her through drug-stained eyes. I loved that challenge.
You were born in 1972... that was very surprising given how young you look.
Oh, thank you. I've kind of made my career off of playing much younger people, but I think those days are probably gone. I think this year it caught up with me. It's such a gift because it allowed me to get into this business. When I was playing 14-year-old Cecile Caldwell in 'Cruel Intentions' I was 26 years old. I would have never been able to get a job in Hollywood without much professional experience without that teen craze that hit. I'm so grateful I got to play these immature characters and that my little pudgy face worked for youth. It's difficult though, because there's roles I want now of accomplished, stronger women, and they're like 'What? You're like a woman-child.' So, things need to shift.
Do you think this role will receive the 'attractive actress goes ugly for a role' label?
I don't know if anyone ever considered me to be such a great beauty to begin with, so I don't think they'd think I uglied it down. [laughs] It is fun to play a character where you can rough yourself up a bit, but I haven't thought at all about people's reactions.
Skip over this content
How did you manage to not go off the rails early on in your career like many people do?
Well, there's still time for that. We're not out of the woods until the fat lady sings. But, I was a grown-up. I went to college, I was a triple major. I considered myself really, really lucky to get to work. It happens that people mess up, and then they get back on track. I'm not going to judge anyone.
What's the most interesting or irritating paparazzi incident you've had?
I don't get the barrage of them, but it's such a major business that every actress does now and then. I've had some really sweet paparazzi. There's been days where I've been feeling lonely, walking my dog and someone takes my picture and I strike up a conversation. I think 'Oh, that's a very nice guy' ... I wish I had more makeup on and did my hair, but still nice.
Do you think the 'Cruel Intentions' kiss between you and Sarah Michelle Gellar was a culturally significant moment, and the catalyst for all of the recent obsession with same-sex kisses on TV and in Hollywood?
I think that whole movie is a cultural moment. Besides the John Hughes movies of the '80s, this was the first wave of movies where teens are telling explicit stories and being the stars of movies again. It started this huge wave of it, and this kissing scene which I didn't think at the time was a big deal, it opened the door for a lot of ... even though my character wasn't a lesbian, it opened the door for a lot of same sex relationships to be on TV and in movies.
Do you think the movie paved the way for shows like 'Gossip Girl'?
It absolutely paved the way for shows like that. Youth is beautiful. Even ugly young people are beautiful. The stories are so dramatic, and I think people were really excited and were like 'Why aren't we doing more of this?' And now, of course, they are. And it's so much, and I'm not a teenager any more.

[[INTERVIEWS]] The Pocker House

By :Billy Gil

bgil@questex.com,

I’ll come out and say it: Selma Blair is one of my favorite modern actresses. She doesn’t act as much as emote, using her whole body and curling her mouth into a pout that hides a thousand dirty secrets. She seems off and weird in everything she’s in, and it’s completely affecting in a bizarre way.

Blair’s distinctive persona is on at full force in The Poker House, Lori Petty’s directorial debut, coming to DVD ($29.99) Aug. 18 (prebook July 21) from Phase 4 Films. In the film Blair plays a fictionalized version of Petty’s mother, Sarah, a boozy, drug-addicted woman with three children who runs a “house of ill repute,” with prostitutes and gambling, in small-town Iowa. Blair sways and slurs her way through the film, showing hardly a shred of concern for her daughters, even in the face of sexual abuse.

Selma Blair in The Poker House

I spoke to Blair about her tough role and what inspires her.

IndieFile: From where did you draw inspiration to play this role?

Blair: Not to be too simplistic, but I thought it was written in a really good, poetic and hateful way. We all have some horrific sides. And I am not saying this is my mother, but you draw things from people, or I do as an actress. Some of the mannerisms did come from my mother. I did copy some of her mannerisms to play an adult because I never do it! I’ve cultivated this weird world of adolescence in my career.

IndieFile: What was the hardest scene to film?

Blair: It was all super easy, except there’s a moment where I go into the bathroom after [the rape scene]. You feel so much for Jennifer (Lawrence, who plays Agnes, the fictionalized version of Petty) and she extends her arms to me and … I’m going on about what a pain in my ass she was. That was one of my more painful moments. I had to hold back from crying. She’s sitting in the tub, naked, crying to me … and I don’t think my character would be as effective [if she broke down], as she didn’t want to feel that.

IndieFile: What’s it like going back and forth between characters such as this and your role as Vi in Storytelling versus films such as the Hellboy movies?

Blair: I love it. I love both experiences. I love the scope and the expectation of big studio films, but the independent films you really kind of get left alone. … Most of these films are made out-of-pocket and there’s a lot of love and sacrifice that goes into it.

IndieFile: Speaking of which, are you working with Guillermo del Toro again soon on Hellboy or another project?

Blair: I wish I could say differently, but no, he is busy on The Hobbit and I am not in that, as much as I would love to work with Guillermo in any capacity again – I love that man and I love what he creates. I loved being in his vision for Hellboy, but for now it is completely on the backburner.

IndieFile: Do you think you’re a different actress on TV (“Kath & Kim,” “Zoe”) versus movies?

Blair: Yes. I think if maybe it were cable and there were a tone you were allowed to have, it would have the same kind of, I don’t know, spirit that comes through. … But I love the immediacy of TV. I don’t watch it much, but I appreciate it. It’s really hard work to make things look that phony in technicolor. That’s a real game that is really fascinating to me. Kim was a really sloppy, confident girl that was fun to play.

IndieFile: Did you do anything special for the “Kath & Kim” DVD?

Blair: I did a commentary for a few episodes. I hope that that show lives on, on home video, and that people enjoy it because there were some outrageous, silly moments, and when I tuned in, I really enjoyed it. I will not listen to myself on the commentary though.

IndieFile: Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I feel like you do a lot of difficult projects and a lot of difficult acting. In a film like Cruel Intentions, which is more on the Hollywood side of things, your role is smaller but still unforgettable. And I keep coming back to Storytelling and how awkward that must have been to play. Do you think you’re drawn to difficult roles?

Blair: I think I definitely am. I don’t know if it’s because no one else wants those roles. I love Storytelling. I love Todd Solondz’s rhythm and these silent awkward moments in the film. I am drawn to that. Parts of me wish I could be this really vibrant leading lady that can make something out of a really boring role. I’m sure I could do it, I’m not saying I suck, but I think my strength is in playing awkward, uncomfortable people who are really kind of ugly, who have real obvious weaknesses.

IndieFile: There are also a lot of difficult sexual issues at play in your roles. Is that also something that intrigues you as an actress?

Blair: I guess so. I guess I’m just drawn to the awkward moments. I think I just view it as part of life. I don’t view them as difficult roles. Those are the ones that are easier for me. It’s when I have to sit at a dinner scene and make a toast and be charming I think, how do people do this? I’m pretty in touch with the things that make people lie awake at night.

[[ARTICLES]] Selma Blair Enjoying Weight Gain

LOS ANGELES, Ca., Mar. 2 (TOTI) --

Selma Blair wasn't too happy at first when she learned she'd have to gain 20 pounds for her role in the sitcom Kath and Kim. But now the star is enjoying her curvier body a bit more.

An insider told Star that the actress was self conscious at first.

"She felt that everywhere she went, people were whispering, 'She's so fat.' Selma would say 'But I did this for my character!'"

But things turned around quickly for Blair when she found out her boyfriend Mikey Day really liked the new curves.

"He likes her better heavier - he said she was way too skinny before," said the source. "Mikey makes her feel beautiful, so the romance is hotter than ever."
