[[CANDIDS]] Dark Horse babe Selma Blair all smiles leaving dinner

Hollywood sweetheart Selma Blair was seen leaving dinner in Beverly Hills looking very happy as she got into her car. The award winning sexy actress known for her roles in Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and the Hellboy franchise is currently filming the Todd Solondz directed drama Dark Horse.

Dark Horse also stars Donna Murphy and Christopher Walken and tells the story of the romance that blooms between two thirty-somethings in arrested development: an avid toy collector and a woman who is the dark horse of her family.

Do film festival jurors act like their courtroom counterparts?

"Yes, we deliberate. There is a real deliberation process," actress Selma Blair, a juror at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, tells USA TODAY's Donna Freydkin.

Blair posed with Abbie Cornish and Kristen Bell at Chanel's annual Tribeca Film Festival dinner Wednesday night, honoring artists including Yoko Ono and Spencer Platt (not Pratt).

Blair's favorite film so far? Ed Burns' latest offering. "I loved Eddie's Nice Guy Johnny. It was refreshing to see a comedy," she says. As for Chanel, Blair said she wears the brand "all the time. I am a fan of the quilted bags and I do have my most favorite Chanel bag. I haven't worn it yet -- it's too perfect. So, maybe if I ever get married again I'll wear that as my bouquet," she said with a laugh, a reference to her short-lived marriage to musician/actor Ahmet Zappa.

Bell, meanwhile, gave the film fest a shoutout. "I think having something that's here in New York, where some of the grittiest filmmakers started their careers, is really nice -- to celebrate amongst the people that sort of started it."

Personal Trivia

During high school she went by the name Blair because she hated her first name. She is still not comfortable with her age at the name of 36. She says, "I've always thought of it as an old woman's name, so I demanded that everyone call me Blair. In high school, when people found out my name was Selma, they'd call me things like Smell-ma or Salmonella. That stuff basically came from friends, and I never really had any enemies, so I just kind of smiled through it. "I still don't like my name. It does not fall prettily off the tongue. In fact, it's hideous. My middle name is James, and I like to be called that."
She has been romantically linked to Jason Schwartzman of Rushmore Fame.
In her sparetime, Selma collects black-and-white photography. She also enjoys horseback riding, and loves snow jumping.
Blair's intention for her future was to become a photographer. She had some macabre ideas as to what would make a good shot. She explains, "I didn't have many models I was comfortable asking to pose for me, so I did a lot of self-portraits. "I didn't want them to look as if they were of me, so I made myself up like (artist) Magritte's mother, who drowned herself and was supposedly found with her nightdress wrapped around her head. "I took a bunch of self-portraits in that state and some very macabre, victim-y ones, in which I'd torn off my clothes, found a ditch at the side of the road and jumped in."
Selma has a reputation for becoming every publicist's nightmare by talking about anything and everything during an interview.

Blair and Holmes were battling it out with another young actress for the part - and the Hellboy star was confident she'd land it.
She says, "Holmes got it fair and square... (but) I remember seeing her walk into the (audition) room and thinking, 'She is just the tallest girl. There's no way they'll give it to her. She won't even fit on camera.' Then I ate my words. She was adorable."

Misc Trivia

Selma likes animals. She volunteered at an animal shelter caring for stray dogs. For their August 2002 issue, Seventeen magazine was doing an article about her and they photographed her with some of these dogs.
She has a one eyed dog named Wink.
Selma & Ahmet'swedding was originally meant to take place at the Ritz-Carlton in nearby Marina Del Rey, but the couple changed locations at the last minute.
According to People magazine, the bride wore a white satin tailor-made Karl Lagerfeld gown while the groom wore a black suit. For the reception, Blair changed into a black version of the same dress as the 70-plus guests danced to disco tunes and dined on grilled salmon and a three-layer coconut wedding cake.
She was ranked #93 on the FHM 100 Sexiest Women of 2004.
