Claire Danes, Olivia Palermo, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Selma Blair, Ginnifer Goodwin, Michelle Trachtenberg, and a slew of socialites who probably haven't stepped foot in a Target in their lives all attended the Zac Posen for Target 24-Hour shopping party.-

The party, held at 481 8th Avenue (next to the Tick Tock Diner, if that's anyone elses NYC cultural touchstone), had a nostalgic prom-type feel to it. Motown hits were playing, and caterers dressed in Posen's tuxedo body suits were passing out champagne flutes, noise makers, and feathered masks which were snapped up almost as quickly as the navy-blue grommeted dress that seemed to be the most popular item of the night.

Racks of clothes on both levels of the venue were full of the highly anticipated collection: brocade skirts, tuxedo body pants, and the bright pink maxi dress that Claire Danes herself wore to the party, and later to the American Museum of Natural History's Museum Dance.

Guests included Rosson Crow, Sessilee Lopez, Fern Mallis, Coco Rocha, Alek Wek, Patricia Fields, Annabel Vartanian, Kristian Laliberte, Joe Zee, Parker Posey, Kelly Bensimon, and High Society's Malik So Chic, who was unceremoniously escorted OUT of the VIP section.

Sure, there were celebrities somewhere and the Like was about to play, but Thursday's Zac Posen for Target party was all about the clothes. Perched on plush pink carpets in a Herald Square event space, racks of the designer's flirty dresses and ruched, Esther Williams-esque maillots for the mass retailer were being cleaned out, and fast. Pat Cleveland had eyes for the floor-length safety pin print dress, while Daisy de Villeneuve kept a firm grip on a Target-red cropped leather bomber. "I love this," she said. "It's brilliant."

As for the stars, Claire Danes, Selma Blair, Parker Posey, and Maggie Gyllenhaal claimed the pink couch in the crowded VIP section, while Ginnifer Goodwin, Mena Suvari, and Michelle Trachtenberg posed for photos with a beaming—and, due to a lack of AC, somewhat gleaming—Posen. "I wanted this collection to have glamour and energy but still be elegant," the designer said over the strains of the Like. "Whether you're in your kitchen making eggs or going dancing, I wanted it to be accessible. This is the largest distribution Target's ever done," he added. "I feel a lot of responsibility." Alek Wek, in a tie-dye tank dress from the line, volunteered her endorsement. "I love everything Zac does," she said. "He is all about strong women, and he makes you feel good in whatever you're wearing."

Zac Posen and his posse of party people kicked off a 24-hour shopping party last night while eager shoppers formed a long line down Eighth Avenue and around the corner of 34th Street.

Posen fans Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Claire Danes, Selma Blair, Mena Suvari, Parker Posey, Michelle Trachtenberg, Theodora and Alexandra Richards, Kelly Bensimon and models Coco Rocha, Alek Wek and Sessliee Lopez turned up, mostly clad in the limited edition Zac Posen for Target collection, to support their friend and shop for more.

Guests were greeted by girls holding trays of masks, noise makers and other festive doo-dads and then were offered the chance to pose for instant pictures in front of a "party" backdrop. Cocktails were passed throughout the space, which is part of the New Yorker Hotel, while party guests shopped and enjoyed a performance from The Like, the band that starred in the short promotional film for the collection, directed by Gia Coppola.

While most appeared to be shopping for themselves with a few garments draped over their arms, there were a couple shoppers early on that literally picked up sections of clothing from the racks and headed to the check out. That explains why there's a decent amount of Zac Posen for Target already available on eBay.

If you are in New York, run – do not walk – to the Zac Posen for Target pop-up store at the corner of 34th Street and Eighth Avenue. This shop is open for only for 24 hours – until 11pm Friday, April 16 – and if you can't get your hands on the whole collection of Zac Posen for Target there, you'll have to wait until it hits the stores and Target.com on April 25.

La jeune mariée Claire Danes, qui mesure également ses sorties à deux, a décidé de laisser un peu de répit à son époux, Hugh Dancy, et de briller en solo dans une longue robe à imprimés, très fraîche et parfaite pour ce début de printemps.

Enfin, Maggie Gyllenhaal, souriante à souhait, a également créé la surprise sur le tapis rouge. Amincie et radieuse, la soeur du Prince of Persia Jake Gyllenhaal avait misé sur un joli rouge pour souligner son teint porcelaine et a passé une délicieuse soirée placée sous le signe de la mode... à petits prix!
